Handsome Guys is a 2024 South Korean horror-comedy film, directed by Nam Dong-hyup in his feature debut, and is a remake of the 2010 Canadian cult slasher-comedy Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. The movie follows the misadventures of two well-meaning but rugged-looking carpenters and best friends, Jae-pil (Lee Sung-min) and Sang-gu (Lee Hee-joon), who purchase their dream European-style mountain cabin in the countryside, completely unaware of the dark secret sealed in its basement. Their peaceful new life is quickly upended when a group of vacationing college students, including Mi-na (Gong Seung-yeon), mistake the intimidating-looking friends for backwoods serial killers after a series of hilarious misunderstandings, most notably when Jae-pil and Sang-gu rescue a nearly-drowned Mi-na and are mistaken for kidnappers. As the increasingly panicked and error-prone students accidentally off themselves while attempting to "rescue" their friend, the confusion is further compounded by the awakening of an ancient evil spirit, linked to an ominous prophecy, which was sealed within the cabin. The film blends slapstick humor, gore, occult elements, and a message about prejudice and first impressions, anchored by the strong comedic chemistry between its lead actors.
