Roofman 2025
Roofman is based on the unbelievable true story of Jeffrey Manchester (Channing Tatum), an Army veteran and struggling father who turns to a bizarre life of crime after falling into financial distress. He earns his moniker by robbing fast-food restaurants, primarily McDonald's, by cutting holes in their roofs. After being imprisoned, he executes an elaborate escape and famously hides out for six months, living secretly inside a Toys “R” Us store, undetected by employees. His double life becomes dangerously complicated when he begins a relationship with Leigh Wainscott (Kirsten Dunst), a divorced mom who works at the toy store. Drawn in by his undeniable charisma, she is completely unaware that the charming man she knows as "John" is actually one of America's most wanted fugitives, setting the stage for a compelling and emotional game of cat and mouse as law enforcement closes in. The film is headlined by Channing Tatum as the charismatic but conflicted lead, Jeffrey Manchester. He is paired with Kirsten Dunst as his love interest, Leigh Wainscott. The star-studded ensemble cast also features LaKeith Stanfield as Steve, Manchester's Army friend; Ben Mendelsohn as Pastor Ron; Peter Dinklage as Mitch, the suspicious toy store manager; Juno Temple as Michelle; and Uzo Aduba as Eileen. The film was directed by acclaimed filmmaker Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine, The Place Beyond the Pines). The film received significant critical praise and is certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes (around 86%). Reviewers lauded Derek Cianfrance for injecting heart and humor into the true-crime genre, contrasting with his darker previous work. Critics universally praised Channing Tatum's performance, calling it one of his career-best for his blend of pathos, charm, and physical comedy, noting his on-screen chemistry with Kirsten Dunst as the emotional core of the film. While some found the film to be a bit too "slick" or "incurious" about the deeper societal issues driving Manchester's crimes, the majority viewed it as a thoroughly engaging, character-driven, and highly entertaining crime caper. Roofman premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 6, 2025, and was released wide in the US on October 10, 2025, by Paramount Pictures. Despite receiving strong reviews and having a major cast, its box office performance was modest compared to other major tentpoles of the year. The film grossed approximately $33.5 million worldwide against a reported production budget of around $18–19 million. While it fell short of a true box office breakout, its earnings were sufficient to cover production costs, and its subsequent performance in the digital rental market quickly pushed it to profitability. The film is currently making its transition to subscription streaming. It was first made available on Premium Video-on-Demand (PVOD) for rent and purchase starting November 11, 2025. The film is officially scheduled to begin streaming on the subscription service Paramount+ on December 9, 2025.

The movie was good, just a bit too long and drug out. Could have cut 20-30 minutes and made it an excellent movie. However, Channing Tatum, Kirsten Dunst and Peter Dinklage are very good in this movie. I wouldn't call this a comedy either. It had a funny moment or two but it is more a drama than anywhere near a comedy.
