Thamma 2025
Thamma is a 2025 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy horror film directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and is the fifth installment in the popular Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, following hits like Stree and Bhediya. The film, which was theatrically released on October 21, 2025, coinciding with Diwali, is produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik. It stars Ayushmann Khurrana as Alok Goyal, a historian-turned-reporter, and Rashmika Mandanna as Tadaka, a mysterious vampire, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing the main antagonist, Yakshasan, and veteran actor Paresh Rawal in a key supporting role. The plot, touted as a "bloody love story," centers on Alok, who, while trekking, is injured and saved by Tadaka. A romance blossoms between them, but Alok is soon drawn into the hidden world of ancient Indian vampires, or 'Betaals' (as the film clarifies they are based on Indian folklore, not Western vampires), after being captured by the rogue Betaal king, Yakshasan. Alok discovers he is part of a legacy of these Indian vampires and must embrace his dark destiny to fight Yakshasan and protect Tadaka and her clan, leading to a conflict that threatens both their worlds. The film's story, written by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Falara, also features special appearances, including Varun Dhawan reprising his role as the werewolf 'Bhediya,' setting up an anticipated 'Betaal vs. Bhediya' crossover. The music for the film is composed by Sachin–Jigar. With a reported budget of around ₹145 crore, Thamma is positioned as a significant addition to the expanding supernatural-comedy franchise.
