Supergirl 2026
Scheduled for release on June 26, 2026, the film simply titled Supergirl (formerly Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow) is the second feature film in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe (DCU). Directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya, Cruella) and written by Ana Nogueira, the movie is a direct adaptation of the acclaimed 2021 comic series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. Starring Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) as Kara Zor-El, the story presents a more cynical, world-weary version of the character who lived on a fragment of Krypton for 14 years, witnessing its slow destruction before arriving on Earth. The plot follows Kara and her loyal companion Krypto the Superdog as they are recruited by a young alien named Ruthye Marye Knoll (played by Eve Ridley) for a cosmic quest for vengeance against the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts). The film is noted for its "hardcore" sci-fi tone, distinguishing Kara’s gritty survivor persona from the more optimistic nature of her cousin, Superman.
