Bāhubali: The Epic 2025

Baahubali: The Epic is a special, re-edited, and digitally remastered single-film version of director S. S. Rajamouli's iconic two-part saga, Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), released to commemorate the franchise's 10th anniversary. This combined narrative, personally recut by Rajamouli to flow as one continuous epic, hit theatres worldwide on October 31, 2025, running for approximately 3 hours and 44 minutes (224 to 225 minutes), significantly shorter than the combined runtime of the original films. The core plot follows Sivudu/Mahendra Baahubali (Prabhas), a young man raised in a tribal village who discovers his royal lineage and the truth about his father, Amarendra Baahubali's (also Prabhas) betrayal and murder at the hands of his uncle, Bhallaladeva (Rana Daggubati). The film chronicles Sivudu's journey to liberate the long-imprisoned Queen Devasena (Anushka Shetty), challenge the tyrannical Bhallaladeva, and reclaim his rightful throne in the kingdom of Mahishmati, with the pivotal backstory of Amarendra Baahubali and Kattappa (Sathyaraj) explaining why the loyal warrior killed the former king. The film features the original star-studded cast, including Prabhas in the dual lead roles, Rana Daggubati as the villainous Bhallaladeva, Anushka Shetty as Devasena, Tamannaah Bhatia as Avantika, Ramya Krishnan as the powerful Sivagami, Sathyaraj as Kattappa, and Nassar as Bijjaladeva. The re-release boasts remastered visuals and an enhanced sound mix (including Dolby Atmos and IMAX upscaling) to create a fresh, seamless, high-definition cinematic experience. While some romantic or song sequences were shortened or removed to tighten the runtime, the edit successfully weaves the two separate films into a cohesive, single grand spectacle. Despite the story being well-known, Baahubali: The Epic performed commendably for a re-release, becoming one of the highest-grossing re-released Indian films, reaffirming the immense cultural impact and enduring legacy of the Mahishmati saga on Indian cinema.
