Roofman is based on the unbelievable true story of Jeffrey Manchester (Channing Tatum), an Army veteran and struggling father who turns to a bizarre life of crime after falling into financial distress. He earns his moniker by robbing fast-food restaurants, primarily McDonald's, by cutting holes in their roofs. After being imprisoned, he executes an elaborate escape and famously hides out for six months, living secretly inside a Toys “R” Us store, undetected by employees. His double life becomes dangerously complicated when he begins a relationship with Leigh Wainscott (Kirsten Dunst), a divorced mom who works at the toy store. Drawn in by his undeniable charisma, she is completely unaware that the charming man she knows as "John" is actually one of America's most wanted fugitives, setting the stage for a compelling and emotional game of cat and mouse as law enforcement closes in.
