Anaconda 2025
The 2025 film Anaconda is not a direct remake or continuation of the original 1997 horror film, but rather a meta-comedy reboot that serves as a playful homage to the cult classic. Directed by Tom Gormican (known for The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent) and co-written by Gormican and Kevin Etten, the film stars Jack Black as Doug and Paul Rudd as Griff, two childhood best friends facing a midlife crisis. The plot follows the hapless duo, who have always dreamed of remaking their favorite movie, 1997's Anaconda. They gather an eclectic crew and venture deep into the Amazon rainforest to start filming their amateur, low-budget version. However, their comically chaotic movie set turns genuinely deadly when a massive, real-life anaconda appears, forcing the aspiring filmmakers and their crew—which includes Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton, and Daniela Melchior—into a desperate fight for survival. This action-comedy, which blends scares, laughs, and nostalgia, is scheduled for release in theaters on December 25, 2025, distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing.
