Mantis (Samagwi) 2025

The film Mantis (Korean: Samagwi) is a 2025 South Korean action thriller that serves as a spin-off set in the same universe as the 2023 hit Netflix movie, Kill Boksoon. Directed by Lee Tae-sung in his feature debut and co-written by Kill Boksoon's director Byun Sung-hyun, the movie centers on an elite assassin named Han-ul, also known by his callsign, Mantis (played by Yim Si-wan). After a hiatus, Mantis returns to the world of contract killing to find it in disarray following the death of the head of the governing assassin organization, Cha Min-kyu (a cameo by Sul Kyung-gu). This chaos triggers a ruthless competition for the top spot. Mantis is drawn into the power struggle, facing off against his former training partner and rival, Jae-yi (Park Gyu-young), for whom he harbors complex feelings, and Dok-go (Jo Woo-jin), a retired legendary killer who attempts to reclaim control of the crumbling enterprise.
